Recognition of School Attendance and Area Attendance Incentive Program Award Winners, 2008/2009 (Adult and Community Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Nine years ago Deputy Superintendent Beth Shields initiated an attendance incentive program for schools that meet or exceed the annual district attendance goal of 96%.

This year 37 schools will be recognized for their outstanding achievement in maintaining high attendance percentages for the 2008/2009 school year. The Beth Shields Attendance Award recipients will be recognized and presented with a plaque for achieving the highest percentage of attendance at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Schools who have met this goal are awarded with a flag (1st and 5th years), or a colored streamer for subsequent years.

In 2006/2007, this incentive was expanded to recognize the area with the highest cumulative attendance average from the previous school year. The general director from the recognized area receives an attendance flag along with a streamer depicting the award.
