Approve Discretionary Lottery Reports (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The 1996 Florida Legislature adopted an amendment to Section 24.121, Florida Statutes, requiring local school districts to make available to the public a quarterly report displaying discretionary lottery revenue and expenditures. For the period ended June 30, 2009, the School District expended $674,216. Lottery funds are used to:
- provide student instruction BEYOND 5 HOURS a day,
- support the School Improvement Program partially funded by stated "categorical" revenue,
- develop and implement school improvement plans, and
- enhance existing funding to charter schools in Hillsborough County
(Lottery revenue is based on the Florida Education Finance Program Calculation data.)
