SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the District Managed Turnaround Plan for Middleton High School, Based on Final Approval from the State Board of Education, for the 2009/2010 School Year(Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As a requirement of the state’s Differentiated Accountability Plan, a school identified as being in Intervene status does not meet state determined performance criteria after one year, the district must implement one of four intervention options for the following year. The criteria required of Middleton High School to exit Intervene status is to raise the school grade to a C, increase the percentage of subgroups making adequate yearly progress by 5%, make adequate yearly progress in one Reading subgroup, and make adequate yearly progress in one Math subgroup. In order to achieve these goals at Middleton High School for the 2009/2010 school year, the district has selected the state’s “District Managed Turnaround School” option. The District Managed Turnaround School Plan is based on a state template of required elements and the district’s actions that have been taken to meet these requirements. The district was required to submit a preliminary plan to the state in May of 2009, prior to school data being released. The plan was approved by the State Board. The attached plan is a final draft detailing more specifically the actions that have been taken by the district to meet the state’s requirements.
