Approve Amendment 0001 to Contract Renewal #LK920 of Contract #LK820 with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

The three-year cost reimbursement contract renewal, October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2012, provides child care services for refugee families resettling in Hillsborough County. Refugee clients are referred for service by local resettlement agencies under contract to the Department of Children and Families. Amendment 0001 provides a funding increase of $1,020,000, which raises the total three-year funding to $5,040,000.

Amendment 0001 increases the total amount to $5,040,000, to be allocated over a three-year period at $1,680,000 annually. Of the annual allocations, $1,585,689 is to be used for direct child care services for approximately 396 children at the average annual rate of $4,000 per child. A total of $94,311 covers the cost of program implementation. These federal funds are channeled to the District through the Department of Children and Families, Florida Office of Refugee Services.

This contract and any amendments and/or renewals made a part thereof, are audited by the Department of Children and Families, Florida Office of Refugee Services during the performance of said contract. Funding for the Florida Office of Refugee Services is provided by federal dollars which flow to the Early Childhood School Readiness Programs to purchase child care in Hillsborough County for refugee children. There is no district-generated revenue used for this purchase.
