Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Kenyatta Dorey Graves, Conscious Vigilance Educational Consulting (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

We request approval of the Agreement for Technical Services with Kenyatta Dorey Graves, Conscious Vigilance Educational Consulting, to conduct workshops entitled, “Differentiated Instruction in Support of Non-Traditional Advanced Placement Students,” for approximately 500 high school teachers. The workshops will provide an in-depth study of differentiated instruction in support of non-traditional students in Advanced Placement (AP) and Pre-AP classes, as well as increasing rigor and support of our bottom quartile students to produce successful scores on FCAT and AP examinations. Teachers attending these workshops will have the opportunity to increase their skills in differentiating instruction, and provide access to challenging curriculum by a diverse population of learners. The provider will conduct a total of 20 hours of training, to be completed by September 25, 2009. The training sites will be Bloomingdale, Freedom, Plant, Spoto, and Wharton High Schools.

Funds of $8,000 are included in the Stimulus Grant.

June 2010 - Evaluation of professional development will be determined through a structured questionnaire and improved FCAT and AP scores.
