Approve Agreements for Technical Services for Services Associated with Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) State Teacher Quality Grant, PR/Award #290-2259A-0C001 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) awarded $454,384 to HCPS to implement the Teacher Quality grant, which provides teachers access to research-based professional development addressing Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) in language arts and social studies. Agreements for Technical Services include:

• Faculty from the University of South Florida, College of Arts and Sciences, to design and edit K-12 language arts and social studies training for Hillsborough and Pasco counties, and develop a valid pre- and post-test instrument for participants
• Shawn Bingham (USF Co-Principal Investigator, $20,481)
• Tova Cooper, Annette Cozzi, William Cummings, Laura Runge, Meredith Zoetewey ($15,481 each)
• External evaluator (required) from the University of South Florida, to evaluate module design process and products, and produce and collect a variety of participant survey tools
• Dr. Bruce Jones ($50,000)

Funding for this project is provided by the FLDOE, PR/Award # 290-2259A-0C001. HCPS is the grant’s fiscal agent and project funds reside with the district.

Under the terms of the grant, an external evaluator from USF contracted by HCPS, will evaluate the project, providing annual reports to HCPS and the FLDOE. Copies of the annual reports and the final evaluation report will be provided to the Office of Assessment and Accountability.
