SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Agreement of Understanding with Community-Based Training (CBT) Site for Students with Disabilities for the 2009/2010 School Year (Exceptional Student Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of an additional CBT site, Alafia Village Assisted Living. The CBT Program was initiated by the district for students with disabilities, January 1990. By providing training in entry level positions at a variety of businesses in the community, students are better prepared to successfully enter the workforce. During the 2009/2010 school year, 23 schools will participate and provide training opportunities for approximately 265 students with disabilities. Our community business partners provide valuable training experiences for students with disabilities.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
* Motivate students to become responsible learners
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The Agreement of Understanding is non-financial. The estimated cost for transporting students to and from the business sites for the 2009/2010 school year is approximately $350,000 and is included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
EVALUATION
Evaluations will be conducted on May 28, 2010
