Approve the Participation of Stewart Middle School in the National Fish and Wildlife Grant Project (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Stewart Middle Magnet School (Stewart) has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). Grant funds will be utilized to restore a 1,500 linear foot section of shoreline along Hillsborough River at Stewart. The project will remove exotic vegetation, correct erosion issues, and restore the shoreline with native vegetation. This project is currently underway at Stewart with the assistance of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). As a part of this process, Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is required to submit a grant agreement indicating our intent to adhere to our project plan.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)
Funding for this project is provided by the NFWF. HCPS is the grant’s fiscal agent and project funds reside with the district.
EVALUATION
Project research and data will be shared with the district’s Department of Assessment and Accountability on a regular basis.
