| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| Since its 1985 inception, the Too Good for Drugs and Violence Walk and Kidfest has provided Hillsborough County students and their families an opportunity to demonstrate and celebrate their commitment to living healthy and drug-free lives.
On Saturday, October 2, 2010, the Mendez Foundation renewed its commitment to teaching students that they are too good for drugs and violence with a successful community event at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). More than 5,000 students and their families united to take a visible stand against drugs and violence as they participated in the 25th annual event. This family friendly event featured a banner contest, prewalk activities including Radio Disney, the Busch Garden Sheiks, the Buccaneer cheerleaders, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and a one mile walk around MOSI. Following the walk, more than 60 banner contestants displayed their creative and compelling drug-free messages while the prevention activities continued inside MOSI at Kidfest. The banner contest was judged by 16 community leaders. The 1st Place banner winners have been displayed in the Glazer Children's Museum for the month of October to celebrate Red Ribbon Week. |
