Approve Interlocal Agreement Between the School Board of Hillsborough County and Hillsborough County for the Design and Construction of a Parking Lot at Westchase Elementary School

School Board staff has been working with Hillsborough County Departments to construct an additional parking lot on School Board property located at Westchase Elementary School (Exhibit A).  This parking lot is needed to accommodate the vehicles anticipated by Hillsborough County's proposed multi-purpose gymnasium adjacent to the school (Exhibit B).   The School Board will design, permit and construct the parking lot on land next to the school's administrative building.  The County has budgeted $100,000 from their CIP funds for the design and construction of the parking lot as part of the "Multi-Purpose Gymnasium Northwest, CIP No. 80212". 

The School Board will have ownership and full use of the parking lot, as well as responsibility for the daily maintenance and operation and Hillsborough County will be responsible for the cost of lighting.  The School Board will grant a non-exclusive, perpetual easement over and across the parking lot to the County for access and parking.

The Interlocal Agreement was approved by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners at their November 4, 2010 meeting.

Permitting and construction of the additional parking lot at Westchase Elementary School will be funded by Hillsborough County through CIP No. 80212.  Cost of daily maintenance and operation will be included in the school's site budget.
