Approve Agreement for Technical Services for Recruitment Innovations for Student Empowerment, Inc. (R.I.S.E., Inc.) (Student Services and Federal Programs Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
R.I.S.E., Inc. will mentor 100 high school seniors through the college admissions process. Students served will be from low income, at risk, and first-generation college bound populations. The consultant will work through the guidance department and with Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) teachers in order to identify students. The consultant will visit six high schools including Armwood, Blake, Chamberlain, Jefferson, Leto, and Middleton for the purpose of recruiting a total of 100 students to participate. The following programs will be conducted by R.I.S.E.: six 90-minute workshops, ten individual 50-minute student sessions, a college fair, three college trips, four parent/guardian meetings, unlimited online support, individual advising and G.P.A. monitoring, and unlimited coaching. | |

The contract will be funded through the following sources: GEAR UP Grant ($15,000); Smaller Learning Communities Grant ($15,500); and Title I Part A ($15,000). | |
EVALUATION | |
The timeline for evaluation will be in the 2011/2012 school term to follow up with graduating seniors. | |
