EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The attached SP&P document, which has received the prior approval of Florida Department of Education (FDOE), provides a framework for the day-to-day operating procedures to be utilized by the district in providing a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to students with disabilities, in alignment with current State Board of Education Rules, state statutes, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and its implementing requirements per the Code of Federal Regulations at Section 300 of Title 34.

Periodic revisions to the district's SP&P document are required due to newly-enacted statutes or other legislative revisions that may occur during a current implementing period.   The content of the attached SP&P document was authored by FDOE, with specific and detailed instructions to the district regarding required district specific information to be added.

The SP&P revision procedure utilized a collaborative process which included the input of parent representatives of students with disabilities, district personnel from the Exceptional Student Education and Student Support Services departments, and personnel from FDOE's Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS).

The SP&P document requires verification that the document has been approved by the School Board and that the document, as preprinted by FDOE, has not been altered in any way.
