EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Due to the combined efforts and contributions of the First Tee of Tampa Bay, the Florida Junior Golf Council, and the Tampa Sports Authority, HCPS is able to provide The First Tee National Schools Program to elementary school students.

The First Tee National School Program trains physical educators to introduce children to golf and The First Tee Nine Core Values during regularly scheduled physical education classes in elementary schools. The program offers students a unique perspective toward learning golf while appreciating the positive personal and social values associated with a lifelong game and physical fitness activity.  It impacts the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.  The program is aligned with the Elementary Physical Education Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Responsible Behaviors and Values.

Seventy-one physical education teachers received a mandatory three-hour e-course training which focused on strategies for integrating the Nine Core Values with best practice for teaching golf.  In addition, each of the 52 participating schools received $3,000 of instructional resources and equipment. To date, approximately 30,000 elementary school students have directly benefited from this partnership. HCPS received financial benefits of approximately $150,000.
