Recognition of the 2010/2011 District Representative for the Sunshine State Scholars Program (Secondary Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Sunshine State Scholars Program provides the opportunity for districts in Florida to showcase their excellent student performance in mathematics and science.  The selection criteria includes overall student GPA (grade point average), both weighted and unweighted; SAT and ACT scores; the number of advanced placement mathematics and science courses completed; the number of advanced placement mathematics and science assessments with a score of three or higher; participation in mathematics and science competitions; and participation in extracurricular mathematics and science related activities, such as clubs and organizations. 

District scholars received recognition for their academic achievements on February 17 - 18, 2011, at the Doubletree Hotel in Orlando.  Scholars were able to meet with industry leaders and representatives from Florida's universities and colleges to experience why Florida is the best place to learn and pursue an exciting career.
