SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Recommendation Regarding the Purchase of Supplemental Instructional Materials for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from Longman Pearson Education (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The competitive solicitation process has been waived for this purchase, as stated in the Florida Department of Education rule 6A-1.102 Purchasing Policies, as it is copyrighted and purchased from the publisher.

This program is aligned to the Florida Department of Education performance standards for English language learners and teachers of ESOL.  The reading and language arts program will be used to instruct high school English language learners and meets the state reading course requirement for students in need of intensive reading.  This specific program, Longman Keystone, is an eight-level flexible reading and language development program that accelerates students' academic achievement through scaffolded, sustained instruction and language development strategies.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Title III funds of $90,000 will be included in the ESOL Program budget, Division of Curriculum and Instruction.
