Approve Renewal Cooperative Agreements for Early Childhood Developmental Care and Family Literacy and Workforce Development at the Kimmins Family Resource Center, 2011/2012 (Adult Education) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We request approval of the Renewal Cooperative Agreements for the continuation of educational services by the Department of Adult Education to families enrolled at the Kimmins Family Literacy Center. Selection of this off-campus site is based on the needs of the community and provides for the ability of a daytime program and convenient location. The cooperative agreements stipulate that the Department of Adult Education will offer a Family Literacy Program that provides a five-prong integrated approach to address workforce and literacy needs of parents and children. This program offers a full range of educational services, parenting skills, prevocational training, parent involvement activities, and workforce readiness skills. In exchange for the use of classroom space at Kimmins Family Learning Center the district agrees to pay 50% of the monthly utilities at the facility, approximately $24,000. |
