SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS | |
Approve Partnership Contribution Under General Cooperative Agreement for Playground Equipment at Riverhills Park For Use by Riverhills Elementary School and the City of Temple Terrace |
|
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
On June 15, 2010, the School Board of Hillsborough County entered into a General Cooperative Agreement for the Joint Use of Recreational Facilities with Temple Terrace (the Agreement). Pursuant to the provisions of the Agreement, Temple Terrace has proposed to build a new handicap accessible playground at Riverhills Park, which is adjacent to Riverhills Elementary School. The School uses the Park as the play area for students during the school day and the Temple Terrace community has use of it on non-school days and after school hours. The original playground equipment was contributed by the Board and there were plans to refurbish it at a cost of $32,000. Instead of the Board refurbishing the equipment, Temple Terrace would contribute $98,000 for the new handicap accessible playground and the School Board would contribute the $32,000 as originally planned. Similar partnership projects have been undertaken between the School Board and the local jurisdictions and the proposed Park project is another example of the continued success and collaboration. |
