Approve Renewal of Cooperative Agreement with Learning AllyTM for Recorded Books and Equipment, 2011/2012 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the cooperative agreement with Learning AllyTM  formerly known as Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFBD), which will provide for 84 annual institutional memberships at Level 1 with an annual fee of $350 per school and a limit of 25 audio books totaling $29,400.  Learning AllyTM will provide the electronic reading devices and necessary software.

Learning AllyTM  is a national nonprofit organization, and will provide the necessary recorded books and equipment for individual students with disabilities in all grade levels who use the recorded texts to access general education textbooks.  The number of identified students in need of recorded educational materials has continued to increase.  An analysis of student data verifies that accessible instructional materials provided by Learning AllyTM assist students with disabilities to achieve at higher levels.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds of $29,400 are available through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Grant.
