EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | ||
The NAA is the leading voice of the afterschool profession dedicated to the development, education, and care of children and youth during their out-of-school hours. Nearly 2,500 out-of school time (OST) professionals from across the nation attended the NAA's National Convention held in Orlando, April 16-18, 2011. Students in OST programs from throughout Florida and elsewhere were invited to participate and compete in the first ever NAA Science Fair. Bill Nye, "The Science Guy," was the keynote speaker and as an added bonus, the science fair participants were able to attend his presentation and autograph session. There were 24 students in attendance representing 6 elementary schools: Colson, Lanier, Sheehy, Springhead, Turner, and Yates Elementary HOST Programs. |
