Recognition of Williams Middle Magnet School - Model United Nations (MUN) Team (Administration Division) |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY |
We request recognition of the Williams IB MUN team which recently participated in the International Global Classrooms MUN Conference held in New York City on April 8 and 9, 2011. While Williams has competed in local conferences before, this was the first time they participated in this international event. Students researched and prepared position papers about global issues ranging from international terrorism and religious intolerance to child labor and universal primary education. At the conference students presented their ideas in committees and worked to create draft resolutions which were eventually voted upon. Williams IB students received recognition in five out of the ten committees they represented. With over 1,400 students from over 80 schools around the world, our good showing was quite an achievement. Attached is a list of all participants and those receiving specific recognition. |
