SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Renewal Agreements with K12 Virtual Schools, LLC and Calvert Educational Services, LLC for the 2011/2012 School Year (Instructional Program Support)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Hillsborough Virtual School (HVS) will again offer two options for our full-time elementary program for the 2011/2012 school year. Historically, parents have appreciated the robust options we are able to provide to their families and it is our goal to continue. All students, regardless of which program they choose, are registered as full-time Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) students and therefore are required to meet the compulsory attendance guidelines and all state and district assessments. These students are not homeschooled students.
K12 Virtual Schools, LLC (K12) provides HVS with a turn-key option which utilizes the teachers, support, and curriculum of K12 Virtual Schools. We have direct communication with families and all staff at K12. There is a per student fee for services provided. Calvert Educational Services, LLC (Calvert) partners with HCPS providing curriculum, course materials, assessments, placement evaluation, professional development, instructional support services, student information system hosting, marketing, and enrollment services; the content and curriculum is facilitated by highly qualified and fully certified HCPS instructors. What makes this option unique is the school climate which is created by the face-to-face opportunities (tutoring, field trips, clubs, and extra-curricular programs). |
