Approve the Additional Expenditures for Accessible Pre-K Playgrounds Utilizing Existing Piggyback of Bid #11-0014-MR, Bleacher, Park and Playground Equipment Between Miracle Recreation and the School District of Manatee County, Florida (Business Division) |
|
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Outside playgrounds are needed for school sites that have Pre-K students, with disabilities, to offer opportunities to develop gross motor and social skills. The proposed structures are accessible to all children and are safe for students who are three and four years of age. Special attention has been paid to design components to eliminate moving parts or other potential safety issues. On February 22, 2011, the Board approved the piggyback of the School District of Manatee County's Bid #11-0014-MR for playground equipment. At that time, estimated expenditure with Miracle Recreation was $130,000. With this $100,000 purchase for the Pre-K Exceptional Student Education, our annual expenditure for this vendor will reach $230,000. |
