Accept the Recommendation to Purchase and Contract for "Workforce Connects Reading Program" from Contemporary/McGraw-Hill (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
These licenses/software from McGraw-Hill are exempt from the bidding process per Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 purchasing policies, as they are purchased directly from the publisher.

The Workforce Connects Reading Program is designed to target the Adult General Educational Development (GED) student population to assist them in preparation to pass the GED test.  This program will be integrated into the Adult GED curriculum, in conjunction with the Career Pathways Model, to assist students with finding potential career path opportunities after receiving their GED.

• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder • Align financial resources to support the district’s strategic goals
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Grant funds are budgeted and available in the amount of $75,017 in the Adult General Education Project 2124.
EVALUATION
All Adult Education GED students, upon enrolling, will be tracked from the time they start classes, pass their GED test, and enroll in a post-secondary setting.  This will include taking career interest surveys, interactions with their instructor and guidance counselor, keeping an electronic career portfolio that will be updated regularly throughout their enrollment, and post GED diploma follow-up into their desired post-secondary career field.
