Matching Funds Projects at Cimino, Hammond and Lake Magdalene Elementary Schools and Coleman Middle School (Facilities Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Matching Funds Program was established in 2001-2002 by the Superintendent to assist schools and their partners in raising funds for capital school improvements by matching dollars in any amount up to $50,000.  On October 26, 2009, a committee composed of elementary, middle and high school principals and the Facilities Division met to review and update the program procedures to be effective for the 2010-2011 fiscal year (Revised procedures are attached).

District Matching Funds are requested for Cimino Elementary - covered play court; Hammond Elementary - sun shade over basketball court; Lake Magdalene Elementary - technology update (netbooks, wireless internet access) and facility update (picnic tables); Coleman Middle - brick patio in front of school.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Total project expenditures are as follows:  Cimino Elementary: $59,890.30 ($29,945.15 District Matching Funds and $29,945.15 Cimino Elementary Funds); Hammond Elementary:  $65,000 ($32,500 District Matching Funds, $32,500 Hammond Elementary Funds); Lake Magdalene Elementary: $36,500 ($18,250 District Matching Funds, $18,250 Lake Magdalene Elementary Funds); Coleman Middle: $40,000 ($20,000 District Matching Funds, $20,000 Coleman Middle Funds).  

Expenditures are funded as follows:  A minimum contribution of 50% of the project cost and the balance from Millage Matching Funds, not to exceed $50,000.
