Approve the Recommendation Regarding the Purchase of "Pitsco Education Modules" from Jaeger Corporation (Sole-Source Provider) (Division of Administration)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Pitsco Education Lab from Jaeger Corporation is considered sole-source and are exempt from the bidding process per Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 purchasing policies as purchased directly from and exclusive agent within the State of Florida.

Young Creative Science Center Upper Campus will use the Pitsco lab to enhance the Creative Science theme and help students become self-directed learners. The lab includes specialized furniture and inquiry-based Missions for 6th grade students and Modules for 7th and 8th grade students. The Pitsco Missions and Modules have specifically been chosen based on the goals and theme of the school. The inquiry lab offers students the following benefits: 1) integrates computer-based research and learning with inquiry-based content and assessment, 2) encourages and enhances a discovery-based science learning environment, 3) encourages students to become global problem solvers by connecting real world challenges with classroom activities, 4) brings 21st Century technology to the science learning environment, and 5) provides the tools and skills to encourage students to develop 21st Century skills through research and collaboration.

The cost for the inquiry lab includes installation of furniture and software, as well as professional development for four staff members at Young Middle Magnet School.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Budgeted Title I and Magnet Schools Assistant Program (MSAP) Grant funds are available in the amount of $145,601 for this project.
EVALUATION
Evaluations are performed for all funded grants as required by the grant funding authority.
