SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Amendment #1 of the Local Child Care Funds Contract with Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc., dba the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Local Child Care Funds contract provides funding used as dollar-for-dollar match for the Child Care Executive Partnership (CCEP) program.  These funds provide child care and early education services for children from income-eligible families.  The term of the original contract is October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011, and was approved in September 2010 (see attached).

Amendment #1 provides a $330,000 increase, which is to be used to provide child care for school age children, ages 5 through 12, and their eligible siblings, effective July 1, 2011.  The amendment was received in our office on August 19, 2011, which results in requesting Board approval after the fact.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
•Â Align financial resources to support the district’s strategic goals
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Amendment #1 provides an increase of $330,000 to the contract total of $1,549,339 making the amended total $1,879,339.  This additional dollar-for-dollar match funding is used only for direct services to children and will provide care for approximately 650 additional children through September 30, 2011, at an average monthly rate of $169 per child July through September (three months).
EVALUATION
Each year the financial statements are audited by Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, as prescribed by law.  This funding for Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County is provided by the Children's Board of Hillsborough County.  The School Readiness Program uses these funds to purchase child care in Hillsborough County.  There is no district-generated revenue used for this purchase.
