Approve the Purchase of the Online Course, Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching:  Looking at Real Classrooms, from Educational Impact, Inc. (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This video-based professional development course was designed to enable teachers and administrators to see what the Danielson Framework components look like in real classrooms.  Educational Impact, Inc. is the sole-source provider of this online course.  This online course contains three learning modules and approximately six hours of streaming video. 

The first module contains a brief introduction of the framework.  The second and third modules contain video clips of real classroom examples.  Each example is broken down by domain, grade level, and subject.  An in-depth commentary on the teachers' performance, the components of the framework observed in the video, and other remarks regarding the instruction taking place in the classroom follow each video clip.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder

Funds of $180,000 are available from the Title II: Part A, Principal and Teacher Training Fund Grant.

EVALUATION

The project's progress will be evaluated annually by the district, Gates' staff, and external evaluators.
