Recognition of the Florida STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Award for Excellence, Cross-Curricula Middle School STEM Academy Recipients (Career and Technical Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
STEM Florida announced their inaugural 2011 roster of honorees for Best Practices for Florida STEM stakeholders on June 24, 2011. Honorees received statewide recognition at the STEM Florida Think Tank in Orlando, Florida. Honorees included organizations who exemplify STEM Best Practices in Education, Innovative Resources, and collaborative Industry Partners within our state. Significant objectives of STEM Florida include developing and supporting the Talent Chain, STEM Education, Business Partners, and STEM Research.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder • Align financial resources to support the district’s strategic goals • Demonstrate best financial practices • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health
