Approve Agreement Between the School Board of Hillsborough County and Hillsborough County for Loan of the Science Book Collection from the Museum of Science and Industry for the MOSI Partnership School

On July 17, 2007, the School Board of Hillsborough County entered into a lease with the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) for a school site for the MOSI Partnership School.  As part of the lease, the School was provided access and use of the MOSI Science Library.  On April 29, 2011, the Science Library was permanently closed as MOSI converted the space into an interactive science and technology lab for all ages.  In order for the students of the School to continue using the library materials, the science book inventory will be housed in the School's media center, while the School acquires additional inventory of its own.

The Agreement is for a term of three years, unless terminated earlier by either party and no fees will be incurred by the School Board.  Ninety days prior to the termination date, the parties will meet to discuss either a new agreement and/or the disposition of the books.  Any fees collected by the School for lost items will be conveyed to the County; all materials will be placed in an air conditioned environment; the School will perform a bi-annual inventory and a monthly circulation status report will be provided to the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library.

The approval of the Agreement between Hillsborough County and the School Board of Hillsborough County for the use of the science book collection from the Museum of Science and Industry for the MOSI Partnership School will have no financial impact to the School Board.
