| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| On July 26, 2011 the Board approved the piggy-back of the State of Florida agreement # 252-500-09-1 for mainframe and other software. This agenda item provides IBM software license renewals to continue to support the operations of the district's data center systems. In addition to the renewal, more software licenses are needed to increase the backup capacity for our disaster recovery solution. Approximately 50 terabytes of data is copied from over 150 servers within the Data Center for backup and disaster recovery.
The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) suite of software is used to create copies of production data for disaster recovery. TSM software is distributed through IBM's Passport Advantage program. Passport Advantage software is IBM's software license and maintenance offerings for distributed software. IBM's distributed software is software that executes on non-mainframe servers. The annual renewal includes software required by Lawson, Student Information System, and servers located in the Data Center. |
