| Accept the Lowest and Best Bid Submitted by Alert Tire Service - Invitation to Bid (ITB) #11101-DST Tire Recapping-Service and Related Parts (Business Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| This bid was prepared at the request of the Transportation Department to establish fixed pricing for tire retreading and related parts, including plugs and valve stems. To lower costs, the district utilizes retreaded tires on its buses. Retreaded tires are utilized only on the back wheels and cost between 30 to 50 percent of the cost of a new tire price.
Award of this contract shall be to the lowest overall responsive, responsible bidder, as specified in the bid. This recommendation has been reviewed by the General Manager of Transportation. The initial term of this contract shall be for a one-year period beginning October 19, 2011 through October 18, 2012, with four one-year renewals. All prices offered are firm against any increase for at least one year from the effective date. This contract may be renewed by the Superintendent per the terms of the specifications. |

| EVALUATION | |
| Contract administration or evaluation is performed by the Project Manager (end user) and Procurement Officer, who function as a team. Reviews are conducted face to face, typically quarterly, or by utilizing an online vendor performance report. Prior to soliciting a new contract, the Contract Administration team must first give consideration to the specifications and supporting data of the expiring contract. | |
