Approve the Recommendation Regarding the Purchase of "Science Equipment" from Chem Scientific, LLC (Sole-Source Provider) (Business Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
This specialized custom science equipment from Chem Scientific is considered sole-source and is exempt from the bidding process per Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 purchasing policies.
The equipment described is an Energy Wheel and Gravitational Potential Energy Kit. The accessories are custom made by Chem Scientific and thoroughly tested by Science Curriculum, Inc., who is the publisher of the Introductory Physical Science (IPS) textbook used in the credited course. The science equipment, specifically designed for the newly adopted IPS program used in the high school credited course in middle school, will provide students with the opportunity to perform precision-level experiments in such a rigorous course. These labs are a part of the required curriculum to earn high school credit. |

EVALUATION | |
There will be progress monitoring throughout the year by the Supervisor of District Resource Teachers. The school-based resource teachers will determine if pacing and implementation of the labs are effectively executed. | |
