SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the 2010-2011 Energy Conservation Report, Incentive Awards to Various Schools and Energy Conservation Mentors

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The attached annual Energy Conservation Report demonstrates the District's conservation efforts.  The District's overall energy consumption per square foot was reduced from 13.30 kWh/sqft in school year 2009-2010 to 13.09 kWh/sqft for this year.  Additionally, the District achieved over 2% energy reduction (kWh) when compared to school year 2009-2010 once renovations, construction and exempt sites are excluded from the calculations.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Funds in the amount of $72,772 are required for site incentives and energy conservation mentor incentives.  The total for site incentives is $69,522.  The mentor incentives, which were Board approved last year, total $3,250.  Those amounts are adequately offset by the electricity cost savings achieved by the District.

Energy consumption reduction represents a savings of $447,575.
