SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Summer Four-Day Work Week For All Employees
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
For summer 2012 (beginning the week of June 11 and ending August 10), and for each summer hereafter, we are recommending a four-day work week, ten-hour work day, with a districtwide shutdown on Fridays, with the following stipulations:

  • The beginning and ending dates will be adjusted upon approval of the following year's student calendar
  • The four-day work week affected by the paid July 4 holiday will be four, eight-hour days.
  • Sites required to operate 24/7, i.e. Security, will not be impacted by the four-day work week

Substantial financial savings in areas such as Transportation, Student Nutrition, and Utilities were realized since implementation of summer four-day work weeks beginning in 2009.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
•Â Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
An estimated annual savings of $1,845,000.
