Recognition of Darilyn Cocchiola, Teacher of Students with Intellectual Disabilities, Caminiti Exceptional Center, as the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children 2011 Teacher of the Year (Exceptional Student Education - Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), chartered in 1922, is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents.  CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides professional development, advocates for individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.  The local Tampa Bay Chapter of CEC annually recognizes outstanding educators and individuals who improve the lives of and outcomes for students with disabilities.

Ms. Cocchiola is the 2011 CEC Tampa Bay Chapter #194 Teacher of the Year.  She is a teacher of students with intellectual disabilities at Caminiti Exceptional Center.  She has been a teacher for 15 years of which 3 years are within Hillsborough County Public Schools.
