EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Initiative: AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap and to prepare all students to be college ready and to be globally successful.
Goals:
Targeted Population: Hillsborough County Public School’s (HCPS) AVID Program impacts more than 8,000 students in all of our middle and senior high schools. The AVID English Language College Readiness Program (ELCR) has been piloted in Pierce and Shields Middle Schools, focusing on 7th grade English Language Learners (ELL) students. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities • Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health | |
