Mrs. Hance was a tireless supporter of Grady Elementary School and the South Tampa Community. Kay Hance gained parent and community support by raising funds to make the dream of a covered play court and the first boundless playground in our district a reality. Mrs. Hance was the organizer of the Tiger Trends and Tunes Fashion Show and Dinner for seven years working with major corporate sponsors like Outback Steakhouse and Dillard’s to raise money. Mrs. Hance volunteered almost every single day for seven years at Grady Elementary School, reading to children, teaching them to read and donating hundreds of books to Grady Elementary School.

Mrs. Hance passed away in February 2012 unexpectedly and the faculty, staff and community members feel that it would be a fitting honor to name the media center in honor of Kay Hance.
