SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Agreement of Understanding with Community-Based Training (CBT) Sites for Students with Disabilities for the 2012/2013 School Year (Exceptional Student Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We request approval of two additional CBT sites to be located at Tampa General Hospital and Palm Garden of Sun City Center. The CBT Program was initiated by the district in January 1990 for students with disabilities. By providing training in entry level positions at a variety of businesses in the community, students are better prepared to successfully enter the workforce. During the 2012/2013 school year, 24 schools will participate and provide training opportunities for approximately 250 students with disabilities. Our community business partners provide valuable training experiences for students with disabilities.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Motivate students to become responsible learners
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The Agreement of Understanding is non-financial. The estimated cost for transporting students to and from the business sites for the 2012/2013 school year is approximately $350,000 and is included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
EVALUATION | |
Businesses involved will be given quarterly evaluations for completion, with the final evaluation to be conducted no later than May 28, 2013.
