SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of Equipment and Licenses from Teachscape, Inc. to Expand the Ability of Teachers to Videotape Lessons (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Our participation in the Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) Project has allowed many teachers the opportunity to videotape the teaching and learning occurring inside their classrooms and reflect on their practice as a whole. This experience has led to the interest of MET teachers who want to continue videotaping, mentors who want to offer the opportunity to their new teachers, and also non-MET teachers who see the real value in reflecting through video.
This agenda item contains approval for 125 sets of equipment and licenses for 2,500 teachers during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 school years. Item specifications are included on the attachment. Cameras will be used by mentors with their beginning teachers and interested schools who will incorporate videotaping lessons as part of this process. Cameras from the MET project and new cameras, to purchase at a later date, will be used in this project. Prior to the beginning of the 2012/13 school year, we will be purchasing additional cameras to complete the equipment purchase. |
