EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As the use of technology becomes more prominent in the instructional landscape, the district must plan for the expansion of electronic textbooks, courses, online assessment and create the infrastructure necessary for the general use of electronic media.  This workshop presentation will:

  1.  Highlight the key objectives of the Five Year Timeline.
  2.  Provide cost information for a wireless infrastructure and the role of eRate funding.
  3.  Review the current and future status of electronic  textbooks given that F.S. 1006.40 contains provisions mandating an expansion of electronic instructional materials.
  4.  Review the hardware and networking requirements necessary to successfully implement the use of electronic media on a widespread basis.
  5.  Review the implementation plans, costs and challenges of required online assessment.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
