Review of Testing Programs in Hillsborough County Public Schools | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Students in Hillsborough County Public Schools are assessed throughout the year on a variety of tests, each designed for a specific purpose. In this workshop we will review examples of the three major types of tests: Formative, National Comparative, and Summative assessments.
Formative assessments are administered in order to provide actionable feedback that may be used to develop lesson plans and school wide strategies. By administering National Comparative assessments, the district is able to benchmark student performance against national norms. Summative assessments measure student learning outcomes in a given course. Attached are descriptors of examples for each type of assessment as well as a list of the national, state, and district tests that are used during the year. |
