Accept and Contract with Certiport (Sole Source Provider) for the Purchase of ACA Classroom Licenses, MOS 2007/2010 Classroom Licenses and AutoDesk Certified Associate User Software (Career, Technical and Adult Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval to purchase the MOS 2007/2010 Classroom Licenses for 30 high school and 15 middle school sites to provide Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification testing and purchase ACA Classroom Licenses for 29 high school sites to provide Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certification testing for Career and Technical Education students and teachers in Hillsborough County Public Schools.

This purchase will extend the existing licenses until September 2013 and provide each school site with access to Adobe Certified Associate and Microsoft Office Specialist certification practice software and testing licenses. The software and licenses cover certification tests in Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook 2007.  In addition, we request approval to purchase AutoDesk Certified Associate classroom license for four high schools offering the Drafting and Engineering programs.

These certification exams are recognized by industry and provide students with a marketable skill to take to the workforce.  Industry certification exams are a required component of Career Academies as outlined in Florida’s Career and Professional Education (CAPE) legislation.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The licenses are subject to renewal on an annual basis, to provide continual access to certification preparation and testing. The total cost of this purchase will be $319,510. Funding in the amount of $7,900 is available from the Race to the Top Grant. Funding in the amount of $20,100 is available from the Carl D. Perkins Grant. The remaining funding in the amount of $291,510 is available from weighted FTE funds earned by previous student achievement in industry certification testing.
