| Approve the Piggyback of Bid #11-0014-MR: Bleacher, Park and Playground Equipment between Apollo Sunguard and Manatee County School District for the Purchase and Installation of Sunshades | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
To satisfy anticipated requirements for sunshades, staff proposes to piggyback Manatee County School District bid #11-0014-MR with Apollo Sunguard for the purchase of sunshades through expiration of the agreement on August 23, 2013. Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) rule 6A-1.012 allows purchases from contracts awarded by other government agencies, district school boards, Department of Management Services (DMS), etc., at or below specified prices. The Manatee bid pricing (attached) includes a 5% discount off list prices for the sunshades. Apollo Sunshade has offered Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) an additional 20% discount off list, for a total discount of 25% (attached). Apollo Sunshade has consistently provided excellent service while fulfilling previous requirements. |

Expenditures for sunshade purchases were $293,220 for FY 2011 - 2012. Sunshades are typically funded by a combination of donated, school and District matching funds. |
