Recognition of Cimino Elementary as a National School of Character by Character Education Partnership (Elementary Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Cimino Elementary School, one of 60 elementary schools involved in our character education grant known as Project RESPECT, has been awarded and recognized as a National School of Character by Character Education Partnership (CEP).
Each year, CEP selects schools and districts that demonstrate through a rigorous evaluation process that their focus on character development has had a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, and school climate. Selected schools are then expected to serve as models for other schools, helping them to achieve the same results. Cimino Elementary was recognized for reaching a standard of excellence at the state level and was named a State School of Character two separate years; 2009/2010 and 2011/2012. Schools named as State Schools of Character can apply for the national award. Cimino Elementary applied for the honor and had a site visit this past April by the selection committee. |
