EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The district has, over the past 12 years, successfully deployed these Symantec products to manage and protect the computers and networks of Hillsborough County Public Schools. The knowledge and training invested districtwide, as well as the functionality gained by the district in management, remote software loading, electronic asset software discovery and monitoring, and in remote power off / shutdown / hibernation of assets, prolongs useful availability and saves funding for other instructional usesSymantec Corporation is offering a new licensing model, called SymEd, to allow the district to protect information, while managing and securing the information technology infrastructure.  As the district expands there is a need to accommodate Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) procedures and provide access to online reference materials, assignments, collaboration, and multimedia content.  The SymEd licensing offers full-time employee (FTE) count rather than per device; security for the e-Learning environment; centralized capability to allow for the automated deployment, security and management of devices; support for multiple operating systems including Windows®, Apple, Android®, and others, home use rights for faculty and staff). The Superintendent is authorized to approve any extension agreements, per the terms of the quote.
