SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve GlobalScholar Inc. Master Agreement of Terms and Conditions (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
GlobalScholar Inc. is the vendor that provides the Scantron Achievement Series software and the Silk Student Scheduler software, both used by our district schools. The district is currently converting from the Silk Scheduler to the Pinnacle Student Scheduler software. This request is to establish the master agreement of terms and conditions between GlobalScholar and the district for these software products and for any future software products we would procure from GlobalScholar. The history behind the scheduler software and GlobalScholar began in 2005, when the Board approved contracting with ExLogica Corporation for the purchase of the Silk Scheduler application software for high schools and career centers. The software provided an easier and more flexible way of creating student master schedules, which enhanced the capability of school counselors to meet the needs of students. In 2006, the Board approved the purchase of Silk for use at middle schools as well.
Recently GlobalScholar Inc. purchased ExLogica Corporation and Scantron Inc. purchased GlobalScholar, with Scantron taking GlobalScholar as the company name. After seven years, the Silk Scheduler remains in use here at the district; however, the product has reached the end of its life cycle and is being replaced by the GlobalScholar Pinnacle Scheduler. Pinnacle is a web product that is based on and is very similar to the Silk Scheduler, and therefore, requires minimal training for guidance counselors and other users of the scheduler software. The Procurement Department reviewed and negotiated the terms and conditions of this master agreement. |
