EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
This agenda item approves hardware maintenance support for IBM equipment. The district maintains post-warranty extended maintenance coverage for information technology equipment critical to the daily operations of the district. The on-site repair service for the equipment is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
To minimize cost, non-critical equipment is repaired on a time and material basis. Non-critical equipment includes test and development systems. The on-site repair service is normally next business day, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Attachment A includes the line item cost details for district supported equipment. The coverage period is from January 2013 through December 2013. |

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)
The expense for the coverage period is estimated at $265,000. Funds are included in the Information and Technology Division budget for this expense. Expenditures were $150,347 for 2011/2012, $278,097 for 2010/2011 and $218,733 for 2009/2010. The cost increase over last year is primarily attributed to the warranty period ending on the mainframe computer in August 2012.
