A previously approved District Facilities Five Year Program provides for the renovation of Gaither High School. On October 20, 2009, the Board appointed the architectural firm of Schenkel & Shultz Incorporated to provide design services. On July 27, 2010, the Board appointed the construction management firm of Batson-Cook Company. The renovation of existing facilities includes the addition of a new fire sprinkler system; replacement of the roof on areas not recently renovated; new ceilings and wall finishes; replacement of the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system with a new energy efficient system; group toilet room renovations; and miscellaneous plumbing, life safety, egress, and handicap accessibility modifications.

This change order provides for the reconciliation of direct purchases. Previous credits by the contractor to the District for direct purchases significantly exceeded amounts required. As this change order returning the excess funds to the contractor is for an amount greater than $100,000, Board approval is required.

This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Local Millage ($10,395,307) and Certificates of Participation Series (CoPS) 2006 ($5,525,331).
