EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Magnet Arts Initiative Team received the Florida Music Educators’ Association Exemplary Model Program/Project Award for the 2012/2013 school year. This is a state award for “The Rhythm of Life” - A School-Community Arts Integration Partnership with The Florida Aquarium. The project brought together 200 students, grades K-12, from the five Hillsborough County magnet arts schools to participate in a celebration of marine science and the arts. Arts faculties joined together in a district Professional Learning Community to collaborate on integrated lesson plans for students. Groups were strategically placed throughout the aquarium to demonstrate the process of what was learned about marine life in and through the arts. This project provided a national model for members of the Arts Schools Network conference. | |
