The Fleet Maintenance section of the Transportation Department is converting from using lap-top diagnostics to the Pro-Link iQ Extreme Kits.  With an engine, electronic transmission, brake or electrical issue on a school bus or heavy truck, these kits are required for troubleshooting and running diagnostics on engines, transmissions, ABS brakes and sensors to determine repair strategies and/or warranty implications.  Furthermore, the Pro-Link iQ is required to set shift points, temperatures on shift points, rpm (revolutions per minute), ecm (electronic computer module) and speed controls.

These kits come complete with all discs and attaching cables to service all makes, models of school buses and heavy truck applications for Hillsborough County Public Schools fleet (Navistar, Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Ford, Cummins, International, Caterpillar, Mercedes-Benz, Allison and Peterbilt).

The seven Pro-Link iQ extreme kits will be distributed in the following manner:  three to the Harney Road Fleet Maintenance Facility, two to the Plant City Fleet Maintenance Facility and two for the East Bay Fleet Maintenance Facility.

Evaluation is conducted via Supervisory work order oversight.  Additionally, the Fleet Manger and Warehouse and Purchasing Supervisor oversee warranty thresholds on all vehicles to ensure Hillsborough County Public Schools does not tender a repair on a vehicle that still maintains an active manufacturer's warranty.
